Charles' Story

Sue decided to leave a gift in her Will to help continue our work for child refugees.

“My husband Charles escaped Germany for Britain as a child refugee on the Kindertransport in 1939. In 2007, in a postscript to his autobiography he wrote of his luck in getting to a good school & later to University in England, “advantages that I might not have had if I arrived today”.

His contribution to this country was considerable in the fields of education, teacher training & understanding the experience of families of children with learning difficulties. His books were translated into eleven languages.

Charles would be horrified, if alive today, at the way the drawbridge is being pulled up against child refugees in Europe attempting to reunite with their families by legal routes.

So it feels as though I can ‘do no other’ than leave a gift for Safe Passage in my Will, in memory of Charles & all the children who need help.

If just one child can be rescued as Charles was, it should be done.”

You too can leave a gift in your will and help more children reach safety.
