Pick your activity, date and fundraising target. Having a clear goal in mind will help you to stay on track.
Know your fundraising pitch– why is Safe Passage important to you? Other donors have said: ‘Let’s show these children they are not forgotten’, ‘Refugee camps are not a safe place to live- help us provide a better future’ and ‘I’m a parent – can’t bear to imagine if these were my children’.
Think about what you can offer as an incentive to get donors. A work bake sale provides a break from the day and yummy treats. A cheese and wine night provides an opportunity to see old friends and involve new ones.
Consider your audience and how they will know about your event? Will you be using email, Facebook, and posters to promote it?
Involve your friends, family and colleagues and ask their help with the planning. You’re likely to get more donors, have a pool of ideas and can motivate each to reach that target.
Don’t forget to send out reminders. Most people need a nudge to act and donate!
After the event, say thank you to everyone who helped or donated, send us your photos along with a few words for us to publish on our website. Make sure you’ve got permission from the people in the pictures first.
