• Do you want to join a ground-breaking, determined and compassionate charity that is leading the fight for child refugees caught in limbo in Europe and elsewhere?
• Do you want to equip young refugees with the skills and confidence to advocate for themselves, their rights, and social change?
Safe Passage is recruiting a Youth Advocacy & Campaigns Organiser.
This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic, creative and inspirational worker with young people to join the Campaigns Team at Safe Passage. You will be skilled in developing supportive relationships whilst working with and managing young people, both individually and in groups. You must have experience of direct work with young people, ideally those who are experiencing vulnerabilities or are from marginalised backgrounds.
We are looking for someone who has capacity to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and professionals and to organise successful events or activities that engage young people to advocate successfully. Exceptional professionalism, compassion and integrity, as well as a clear understanding of safeguarding are paramount. You will be a member of our fast-paced campaigns team and expected to play a proactive role in our campaigning, as well as display self-motivation and initiative. Prioritising effectively will be required, as well as being personable, confident and possessing excellent communication skills. Foreign language skills would be an advantage but are not essential.
Safe Passage is a flexible workplace, willing to recruit the right candidate on 60-100% FTE. We also value equality and diversity; strive to build a workforce reflective of the communities we work in; and welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability. People with lived experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
Safe Passage grew out of the urgent need for child refugees to access their legal right to reach a place of safety. From the initial aim of helping children in Calais to reach the UK in 2015, Safe Passage now has teams in Greece, France and the UK. We work to open and strengthen safe and legal routes to protection for refugee children, and then support their first steps to rebuilding their lives. Since we started work in 2015, we have directly helped 200 child refugees to safety and more than 1,800 children have travelled through the safe and legal routes we have helped open.
