Equality, Diversity and inclusion
At Safe Passage, we strongly believe that our commitment to an diverse, representative, and inclusive working environment is crucial for the wellbeing of our staff, volunteers, supporters, and the families and young people we support, and for ensuring that everyone can thrive in their roles. Diversity of thought, experiences, skills and outlook is a huge strength that will best help us achieve our aims as a charity.
We value equality and diversity in our organisation, and are striving to build a workforce reflective of the communities we work in. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith, or disability. People with refugee or asylum-seeking backgrounds are experts by experience and are particularly encouraged to apply.
Recruitment:
To support our Diversity, Representation and Inclusion (DRI) aims, we are committed to doing as much as possible to make our application process accessible and inclusive.
This includes:
We develop inclusive Job Descriptions and Person Specifications by removing unnecessary barriers, requirements and qualifications.
Taking positive action, such as guaranteeing interviews to all applicants with lived experience who meet most of the minimum criteria from the Person Specification. (We respect that people’s identity is not defined by their past experiences and do not expect candidates to describe their lived experience during the interview process unless they wish to).
Interview questions are provided to candidates in advance of interviews.
We welcome feedback on the application process and encourage you to contact our Operations Team via hr@safepassage.org.uk with any feedback that will help us improve our inclusive recruitment processes in the future, with both positive reflections and suggestions for development.
