MEHMAD'S JOURNEY

At just 14 years old, Mehmad* is one among the many Afghan children whose lives have been shattered by the terror of the Taliban, leaving them stranded in foreign lands with no family, forced to navigate immense challenges on their own.

After their entire family vanished, Mehmad and his brother were forced to flee Afghanistan. Mehmad sought refuge in Iran, but soon found himself in great danger as he was captured and tortured by the Taliban. His brother, who had since gotten refugee status in the UK, turned to Safe Passage for help.

Our legal team sprang into action and got the green light for Mehmad to fly to the UK, putting an end to years of anxious separation. Mehmad is now enjoying spending time in his new home, surrounded by his brother, uncle and extended family, and counting down the days until he starts school and join his local football club.

By signing up to our mailing list, you can support our work reuniting child refugees like Mehmad with their loved ones and campaigning against cruel policies.
