In memory of Sir Eric Reich

It is with great sadness that we read that Sir Erich Reich passed away suddenly last week at the age of 87.

Sir Erich was a passionate campaigner with Safe Passage, drawing on his own story as a child of the Kindertransport to campaign for child refugees today to be offered the same safe passage.

Sir Erich was only 4 when he was forced to flee the Nazis unaccompanied to England, he later found out his parents were murdered at Auschwitz.

In his role as chair of AJR’s Kindertransport group Erich galvanised many other ‘Kinder’ and their relatives to advocate for the rights and welcome of child refugees today, taking one campaign all the way to the steps of Downing Street.

Sir Erich was the smallest boy depicted in the famous Kindertransport statue by Frank Meisler at Liverpool Street Station and we are immensely proud and grateful for all his support and leadership in championing the rights of child refugees. He will be sorely missed.
