Factsheets: the failures of the Afghan schemes
Three years after the Taliban takeover in Kabul, Afghanistan remains in crisis. The UK Government promised safe routes for Afghans at risk, but its resettlement schemes have fallen short, leaving many still in danger or forced to take dangerous journeys to reach family.
Today, we're releasing a set of factsheets based on our report, Still Waiting: The Afghans Abandoned by the UK, published in partnership with Refugee Legal Support. These factsheets highlight findings and recommendations from our work with Afghan communities, outlining the current scheme’s failures and the urgent changes needed.
Drawing on research from our legal teams and firsthand experience supporting Afghan refugees, we’re calling on the Government to fix inconsistent decisions, restrictive requirements, and long delays that keep families apart.
