Supporting refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine reach safety in the UK
Safe Passage supports refugees fleeing Ukraine in reaching safety in the UK.
We provide free legal advice to people escaping the military conflict in Ukraine and wishing to relocate to the United Kingdom.
We work in Warsaw to support anyone who needs information and personalised legal advice on the UK’s Homes for Ukraine scheme and Ukraine Family Scheme.
We aim to support those who need support the most due to the invasion – Ukrainian citizens, non-Ukrainian individuals, Roma people who resided in Ukraine before 1st January 2022; vulnerable people: unaccompanied children, people with disabilities, pregnant women, LGBT, etc.
We offer:
Confidential legal aid from UK lawyers
Information about the government schemes for Ukrainians
Advice on eligibility to apply for government schemes
Support with submitting an application for relevant UK visas
Help in finding UK sponsors
Advice on any other matters related to resettlement and life in the UK
We help in overcoming barriers to reaching safety in the UK:
- ineligibility of applicants for routes available,
- struggle to access the schemes because of language barrier,
- difficulties in getting official documents,
- complicated personal situation.
Our work in Warsaw aims to ensure that all refugees have access to the safe routes they need to reach sanctuary in the UK.
It is important for us to make existing routes to protection more accessible and effective, support their expansion and defend the fundamental rights of people on the move to Britain.
We recognise that our work should always be in addition to an adequate system of publicly funded legal services. We monitor and document any gaps in the provision of legal advice, as well as practical obstacles that limit people’s effective access to safe routes to sanctuary.
